I received the "gee we have millions here to just dump in your bank account" many times over the years, and wondered how people could fall for such evident scams. - Eric
I know someone who fell for one of the phishing scams. He gave every item if info requested: credit card numbers, mother's maiden name, SSN, and more. Later in the day he realized it was a scam and has spent hours cancelling credt cards, etc. I guess it just seemed so authentic to him that he did it, but then later realized it didn't make sense that they would request so much info.
I have a Ph.D. in English. My dissertation was on the "digitzed word." I'm fascinated by the revolutionary consequences of computer technology.
